Sicily. Air Force helicopter rescues two girls in the Zingaro Nature Reserve

This afternoon a helicopter from the 82 ° CSAR Center (Combat Search And Rescue) in Trapani took off to rescue two girls at the Riserva dello Zingaro (TP)

A crew of the 82nd SAR Combat Center of Trapani, in alert readiness with the HH-139B helicopter, received the mission order from the Operations Room of the Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) of the Aerospace Operations Command of Poggio Renatico (FE) . He took off at 16:00 pm for Castellammare del Golfo, to embark two operators of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue (CNSAS), and headed for the Zingaro Nature Reserve to help two tourists caught by illness. After recovering by winch, the helicopter then landed at the Sant'Antonio Abate Hospital in Trapani where the two girls were entrusted to the medical staff of the Sicilian hospital for the necessary treatment.

After releasing the two CNSAS operators in Castellammare del Golfo, the crew returned to the Trapani-Birgi air base at 17:35 pm, resuming the National SAR readiness service.

The 82nd Center is one of the Departments of the 15th Wing of the Italian Air Force which guarantees, 24 hours a day, 24 days a year, without interruption, the search and rescue of flight crews in difficulty, competing, moreover, to activities of public utility such as the search for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, the emergency medical transport of patients in danger of life and the rescue of seriously traumatized patients, also operating in marginal weather conditions. From its constitution to today, the crews of the 365 ° Stormo have saved more than 15 people in danger of life. Since 7500, the Department has acquired the AIB (Forest Fire Protection) capacity, contributing to the prevention and fight against fires in Sicily.
