The memorandum of understanding between Abi and the LIA Foundation has been signed

Launch of a shared project to strengthen the culture of accessibility of publications in the banking sector

Spreading accessibility culture through periodic meetings and promoting educational and info-educational initiatives aimed at raising awareness among the various stakeholders involved: this is the objective of the memorandum of understanding signed today by Fondazione LIA - Accessible Italian Books and Italian Banking Association (ABI) ). The agreement was signed in the presence of the president of the LIA Foundation, Mario Barbuto, and of the deputy general manager of Abi, Gianfranco Torriero. The agreement is part of the activities carried out by Abi to promote accessibility in the bank, according to the logic of maximum usability of products, channels, tools and banking services by people with visual disabilities, and initiatives developed by LIA Foundation for accessibility in the publishing sector.

The joint project aims at proposing moments of in-depth analysis on the accessibility of contents, editorial productions and even digital publications and on web platforms, by persons with visual disabilities, with a view to financial and social inclusion. In particular, the agreement provides for the holding of meetings for comparison with the aim of facilitating the exchange of information and experience between Abi and the LIA Foundation on the issues of editorial accessibility, according to the logic of maximum usability of products, channels, tools and banking services; and the promotion of training and info-educational initiatives aimed at disseminating information and issues emerging from the comparison.

The joint initiative is in line with the strategy initiated by ABI on accessibility and with the provisions of the European Commission Directive proposal of a "European Accessibility Act" - the process of which is being concluded - and is as part of the specific training projects promoted in this area by the LIA Foundation - established by the Italian Publishers Association (AIE) with the participation of the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired (UICI).
