SIM AM meets the Minister Trenta. Good: "we want to support the Cocer and the General Staff to help the structure"

The defense minister Elisabetta Trenta in the afternoon, for the first time, he met the military trade unions. They were present SIM Aeronautica, SIM Marina, SIM Carabinieri, Free Trade Union Association of Military Representatives (LRM) e Italian Unitary Union of Military Workers - (SIULM).

The Lieutenant-Colonel spoke on behalf of the SIM AM Sinibaldo Good (next President), the sergeant Valeria Pavoncelli and the 1 ° aviere leader chosen Antonino Sutera. A representative for each role of the armed force.During the meeting, which took place in a climate of active collaboration, the Minister of Defense expressed great satisfaction with the results achieved in such a short time. The constitution of trade union professional associations is one of the first dossiers on which Minister Trenta drew attention, giving effect to the sentence of the Constitutional Court no. 120 of 11 April 2018, allowing the establishment of new bodies and recognizing the ministerial approval.

The Minister of Defense then underlined the importance of relations between the Associations and the bodies of the Military Representation: "Until there is a rule that will decree the end of the Representation bodies at various levels, they will have to maintain their legitimacy and the negotiating power attributed to them by law, ”he said. In closing, the minister wished the nascent organizations good work, ensuring his "complete availability to address all the issues that will emerge with the utmost frankness and openness to discussion".

For the Aeronautical SIM, Lieutenant Colonel Buono succeeded in representing the general guidelines of SIM AM to the Minister Trenta:

"Thank you, Mr. Minister, for allowing all this to come true, a new impassable and exciting path. Only a minister like you could do, in fact, that the sentence of the Constitutional Court that concerns us directly was applied with such speed.

A great opportunity for growth not only for staff but also for the Major States.

We ask for help. To make the General Staff digest our existence, because the confrontation, between decent people, is very important and can be of help to the armed force itself. We are aware of the existence of the Cocer because they are required by law. We made a first gesture and asked Cocer AM informally for a meeting: we are still waiting for a reply, “we will gladly do a bit of anteroom”.

Help us to get the discharged staff inserted in the Syndicate. They are people with a great and important wealth of knowledge and very high professionalism. Placing them in the union would be "beautiful from a social point of view". Pouring their experience to young people would be "fantastic".

After a first confrontation with the other soldiers who will join the union, some initial requests emerged on topics already dealt with by her.

The condition of the AM troop personnel on guard duty with regard to the days of dismounting. A very hard job with days of rest not equal from institution to institution. Too much inhomogeneity. The transparency of the Advancement Commissions. In this regard, you, Mr. Minister, have already asked the chiefs of staff, with a letter dated 17 December last, to establish a technical table so that the advancement procedures are transparent for the staff. A sergeant major needs to know if he didn't get promoted because he didn't go to OFCN (operations outside national borders). Or a superior officer who does not advance to the rank of colonel because he did not do the ISSMI (Higher Institute of General Staff). Also know whether or not an inter-force employment is preferable for promotion from Air Division General to Air Squad. All instances for which we will ask you to intervene.

We in SIM AM, in conclusion, we want to support the Cocer and the General Staff because we want to help our Armed Force and the structure and it is not true that nothing is irreversible but we will fight and work for it to be the future."

The SIM was born thanks to the idea and stubbornness of the lawyer Giorgio Carta - formerly an officer of the carabinieri. The turning point thanks to the sentence 120/2018 of the Supreme Court which declared partially unconstitutional article 1475, paragraph 2 of Legislative Decree no. 66/2010 "Code of the Military Order".

The Air Force Sergeant Valeria Pavoncelli, with a brilliant intuition, he asked and obtained the authorization to give birth to SIM AM, the first military union of the blue weapon.

The SIM will promote the fundamental rights and freedoms of the military, also taking on the general, social and professional interests of military personnel and their families. The union aims to promote respect for human rights and the socio-professional interests of military personnel of all levels through the concept of "Citizen in uniform".
