The Italian Air Force is also in the Italian Military Union (SIM). The statute was approved by Defense Minister Elisabetta Trenta last March 8. As stated in the Articles of Association, the SIM AM will represent, promote, take care of and protect in every office - trade union, social, historical, jurisdictional and administrative - the moral, economic, regulatory, juridical, professional, social security and welfare interests of the members of the Air Force, of every role and category, in compliance with the strike ban.
The military union became a reality following sentence n. 120 / 2018, where the Constitutional Court, ruling on the questions of constitutional legitimacy raised by the Council of State and the Regional Administrative Court of Veneto respectively for 4 May and 3 November 2017, stated partially unconstitutional Article 1475, paragraph 2 of Legislative Decree n. 66 / 2010 "Code of the Military Order", which sanctioned the prohibition for the military to establish trade union associations or to join other trade unions.
The epochal turning point
The Air Force Sergeant Valeria Pavoncelli, with a brilliant intuition, he asked and obtained the authorization to give birth to SIM AM, the first military union of the blue weapon.
The SIM Aeronautica joins, therefore, thanks to the stubbornness of the lawyer Giorgio Carta (formerly an Officer of the Carabinieri), the already established SIM Marina and SIM Carabinieri, the latter has as president Col. Sergio De Caprio, the "Last Captain".
So the lieutenant colonel Sinibaldo Good, figure next to the top of the SIM AM, in a press release, said: "honored to take on this new challenge. It will be necessary to balance the rights and duties of the personnel, to find a perfect balance between the protection of the individual, from a military subject to a "special" status, and the need to guarantee the efficiency of such a delicate capacity for a nation, such as that of the Forces Armed. The SIM AM is ready".
