Disturbances to traffic caused by bad weather

In the last few hours the numerous storm phenomena underway have also caused flooding and landslides on the national road network, causing slowdowns in vehicular flow, in some cases to the point of blocking traffic, with the closure of the affected arteries.

The bad weather hit the central-northern territories the most, hitting the Tuscany region with particular violence.

In particular, the following critical issues arise:

  • A11 Florence-Pisa motorway. The artery was reopened at approximately 13 pm, with the activation of roadway reductions, in the stretch between Prato east (Km 00+8) and Prato Ovest (Km 000+4), which from 000 pm on 22 November it was closed due to heavy rain and the danger of flooding of the Bisenzio river.
  • SGC FI-PI-LI main road. It is still closed in the section between the connection to the A12 Genoa-Rosignano (Km 69+200) and the Lavoria junction (Km 61+800), due to the overflows that occurred in these hours.
  • SS12 Abetone and Brennero. The stretch between Mozzano (Km 44+000) and Chifenti (Km 46+400) closed due to landslide.
  • SS586 Aveto Valley. Closed in Borzonasca (Km 57+900), due to landslide.
  • SS1 Aurelia. The stretch between Sestri Levante (470+800) and Chiavari (Km 482+800) and the one between Bogliasco (Km 512+500) and Arenzano (Km 550+500) are closed due to flooding. The stretch between Stagno (Km 321+400) and Marina di Pisa (Km 331+700) is closed due to falling trees.
  • SS67 Tosco Romagnola. Closed in the Santa Maria area (Km 47+200), due to flooding of the underpass.

Strong winds continue to be recorded on numerous road and motorway sections. It is therefore recommended to proceed with the utmost caution, especially with vans, tarpaulins and caravans. Due to the strong winds, the section of the A14 Bologna-Ancona motorway between Bologna San Lazzaro (Km 22+200) and Pesaro-Urbino (Km 155+900) was closed to these vehicles.

Viabilità Italia, which continues to constantly monitor the practicability conditions of the road network affected by the aforementioned activities, draws the attention of those who will be traveling in the areas affected by the bad weather, advising them to inform themselves in advance about the expected and current traffic conditions.

How to find out about traffic conditions.

Always up-to-date traffic news is available through the CCISS channels (free number 1518, websites www.cciss.it and mobile.cciss.it), Rai-Isoradio broadcasts, Onda Verde news on the three Radio-Rai networks and on RAI Teletext, as well as through the Variable Message Panels along the motorway routes.

To find out about the state of traffic on the Anas road network, it is also possible to use the “GO” application or call the single number 800.841.148.

Real-time information on the motorway network under concession, on road conditions and traffic along the various routes is available on the various channels activated by the individual concessionaire companies (websites, dedicated numbers, apps, etc.). Other useful information for the trip can be found on the website www.aiscat.it.
