In order to continue to ensure the quality of agri-food products and protect the health of citizens in the imminent restart of the tourist season, an important fish center in the Municipality of Sorrento, equipped with tanks for the relaying of mussels and specialized in the supply by catering of various hotel and restaurant structures on the peninsula and the Campania islands, has been the subject of administrative verification and control activities on the traceability and quality of fish products.

The operations, which were attended by the Fishing Area Control Center of the Maritime Directorate of Naples and the Port Authority - Coast Guard of Castellammare di Stabia, the fishing inspectors of the Stabia Coast Guard, the Carabinieri of the National Labor Inspectorate of Naples and staff of the ICQRF of the Mipaaf, led to the seizure of over 2 TONS of fish products and penalties for 26.000 euros.

The inspectors of the ICQRF, in particular, proceeded with the sampling for analysis of food products, the checks for traceability and the verification of the labeling on all food products processed within the company, with cross-checks throughout Italy at the providers.

The result achieved is part of the collaboration between authorities and police forces aimed at guaranteeing that the safety and quality characteristics of food are constantly of a high level, as universally recognized for Italian productions.
