State Police Operation "recycling is served"

The Traffic Police of Milan has carried out 10 precautionary custody between Italians and foreigners mostly domiciled in Brianza.

At the same time, a Brianza auto repair company located in Monza was subjected to preventive seizure.
The investigations were inspired by a report from the Venice Traffic Police, which following the control of a truck, in December 2017, found and seized several vehicular parts bound for Eastern Europe.

The first investigations showed that those auto parts were the result of the recycling activity of a Brianza auto breaker, as accounting documents of the company under investigation were found on board the controlled vehicle.
Even the GPS devices of the parts found confirmed that the last place of positioning of the vehicle was the self-demolition company being investigated. The Milanese investigators promptly reported the competent judicial authority of Monza, under whose guidance, in April 2018, the necessary investigation activities were undertaken: stakeout and shadowing services - seizures - documentary acquisitions - wiretapping as well as, in October of that year, the installation of a video surveillance system that allowed to constantly monitor the entrance and the square in front of the demolition area.

All this made it possible to identify the company in question as one of the main stolen vehicle recycling centers in Lombardy and the two owners (two brothers) as the organizers of a criminal association, which included 4 subjects who took care to supply the criminal factory of stolen vehicles and 5 others who were physically occupied in the transport and dismantling of the same.

The activation of the video surveillance documented the entry of 24 cars of criminal origin, in 38 days, almost always during the closure relating to the lunch break, meaning that overall, during all investigations, 32 vehicles subject to recycling were identified, some of which it was also possible to recover and return to direct holders, for a turnover amounting to about 800.000 euros.

The vehicle parts obtained from the criminal activity were, from time to time, crammed into containers and transferred to Eastern European spare parts dealers, mainly Poles.
