South, digital, new technologies. Aidr: Terna's three axes for the energy transition

There are three pillars on which Terna will invest to face the energy transition. The project of the company led by CEO Stefano Donnarumma - underlines Aidr in a note - goes once again from digital, with a series of investments in new technologies that will see three southern cities as protagonists.

The center of excellence will be called Tyrrhenian Lab, and will work in synergy with universities, research centers and innovation poles between Cagliari, Salerno and Palermo. This “widespread laboratory” - explains Terna in a note - will be articulated precisely in the three landing cities of the Tyrrhenian Link submarine cables, the most important work of our National Transmission Grid Development Plan. Thanks to the Tyrrhenian Lab, Terna will be able to follow the training of excellent resources, developing and transferring know-how and skills directly to southern Italy, with a strong enhancement of the territory, to guarantee an increasingly safe, reliable and sustainable electricity system. The crucial aspect for the energy transition - the Aidr association underlines in a note - will be the investment in digital technologies and training.

In collaboration with the Universities of Palermo, Salerno and Cagliari, Terna will in fact promote training and research courses aimed at developing profiles with specialized skills not present on the market. In particular, the training will be focused on specific technological areas with the aim of facing the challenges of digital and energy transformation: from the electricity market to the Internet of Things (IoT); from analytics to data management; up to the management systems of electrical stations (such as SCADA or SAS).
