The president of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, in an interview with Corriere della Sera, commenting on the delicate Italian political situation after the vote on March 4, stated that "in Italy too many care more about votes and little about Italians, too much about consent and little of problem solving. Instead we need a qualitative leap. We need a stable government that better protects the interests of the country, in Brussels but also here with us .. ". For the president of the European Parliament it is "impossible" to have a government that is born from an M5S and Lega agreement and excludes a split in the center-right and declares: “We are a coalition, not a single party. Forza Italia remains decisive, its identity is decisive to give balance to the center-right. It is the only force that guarantees stability ”.
Tajani then explained the importance of staying in Europe without which you can't go anywhere. II which does not mean that things must not be changed: “Trump, China, Africa, wars in the Mediterranean, migration, the entire international scenario tells us that either we act with Europe or we condemn ourselves to be insignificant. Needless to say, let's get out of the euro. Instead, we need a force that defends our interests in Brussels but at the same time is the protagonist of change in Europe. This must be the center-right in Italy ”.
Then speaking on the recent statements by Macron and Merkel, who said they were concerned about the "shock" that the Italian vote gave to Europe, the president believes that they should be asked what Europe has done on the issue of migration, of work, of growth: “The absence of EU choices has also produced populisms. This is why we need to review the policies immediately, send a signal already at the European Council next week without waiting for June or who knows when. In the next few days I will see Tusk, then Merkel and Macron, to ask them to act without further delay ”.
