Taliban with Hamas: gross “fake news”

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has been circulating on social media platforms, saying the interim Taliban government in Kabul has asked neighboring countries for safe passage to Jerusalem to fight against the Israeli army.

The statement circulated in Urdu and English and appeared in many Israeli newspapers.

Israel National News reported: “The Taliban terrorist organization, which controls Afghanistan, is said to have asked its neighbors for a lift so it can join Hamas in the attack against Israel.".

SAMAA Digital carried out a fact check which revealed that the Taliban government's statement was untrue and completely contrary to the facts.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan released a statement and said that: “Afghanistan has been closely monitoring the recent events in the Gaza Strip and believes that such events are the result of the Israeli Zionists' violation of the rights of the oppressed Palestinian nation and repeated insults and disrespect to Muslim holy sites.”

The statement reads: “Every type of defense and resistance of the Palestinian people for the freedom of the land and the holy places is their legitimate right."

"The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan declares its support for the legitimate, historical and legal right of the Palestinian people to have a permanent country in the historic Palestinian land and invites Islamic countries, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the international community and especially the influential countries of the region to stop the violence of the Israeli occupation forces."
