Colleferro at the center of the new industrial waste facility. The Rays against Zingaretti

"We have been waiting for the Lazio Region 7 years for the waste plan and now propose a new landfill in Rome, a new Malagrotta. What does Nicola Zingaretti threaten the Romans?“, The mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, is on a rampage.

The reference is to the so-called "service" landfill, as Zingaretti calls it, which provides for the self-sufficiency of the city in waste management with "conferring sites of materials treated by treatment plants".

ZIngaretti's words: "To say discaricata, think of Malagrotta, the smell and the seagulls. But that stuff does not exist there and will no longer exist, the plan does not foresee it. The novelty of the Plan is that we can say with certainty that there will be no more landfills of this kind, neither large nor small Malagrotta. They will be sites for the delivery of treated inert materials. Waste must become a resource in a circular economy, in which nothing is thrown away but everything is transformed".

The Colleferro project

At the center of the regional project, writes La Stampa, there is an industrial center of colleferro which will be born in 2021 from the old waste-to-energy plant. Here it will be possible to carry out combustion-free manufacturing processes to extract materials from the loads leaving the Tmb.

Another key objective: to bring Lazio's separate waste collection to 70% by 2025. Approximately 6 million euros allocated to municipalities and public companies in the sector through a public tender.

The operation does not like the Rays. But the mayor's contrary opinion does not seem to represent an obstacle. To hear the regional councilor for waste Massimiliano Valeriani it will go on anyway: "Either the necessary facilities are built by public entities or in the compatible areas identified by the Provinces, the so-called white areas, they can be realized by private individuals".
