A unique role that allows the history of the Air Force to be kept intact and visible over time and to bring the Tricolor with the athletes of the Arma Azzurra into the major sporting competitions worldwide.

A few days ago, the undersecretary of state for defense, the Hon. Angelo Tofalo, accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General of the Air Team Alberto Rosso, visited the beautiful Historical Museum of Vigna di Valle. So on the LinkedIn profile, Undersecretary Tofalo commented: "Thanks to the stories of General Rosso and Mr. Pietro, military on leave and voluntary guide of the Museum, I had the opportunity to retrace an important piece of history of our country through the story of the history of our aviation, today Aeronautica Militare".

The grounds of Vigna di Valle is located on the shores of Lake Bracciano and could be used, due to the tactical scenario it offers, as a valuable area for training pilots with rotary wing aircraft. The Air Force, notoriously an Armed Force projected into the future and the synergy of its capabilities, saw this potential and decided to make the Vigna di Valle site for 4 days an operational training area.

For 4 days, starting on Monday 11 November the 72 ° Stormo of Frosinone he will risk two helicopters TH-500B and a group of military 21, including Officers and NCOs, at the Vigna di Valle airport.

The synergy between the host organization and the operational support of three Air rescuer from 85 ° SAR Center of Pratica di Mare, will allow to carry out a series of missions by flight instructor officers of the 72 ° Stormo. Among the different maneuvers that will be carried out during the missions, particular attention will be paid to the ditching and flotation procedures. 

The primary objectives of this activity aim at raising the technical-professional skills of the flight personnel, those peculiar to the various sectors and the overall management of the Department. 

All the joints of the 72nd Wing will actively collaborate in support of the flight activity by providing the necessary contributions to ensure the execution of the flight missions in complete safety. In particular, the logistic effort of the Stormo is highlighted, which will have to transfer many capacities to the destination airport grounds, such as its own tanker for refueling and an external power unit necessary to start the helicopters. 

The activity that will be carried out in Vigna di Valle will allow the assets of the Air Force to increase not only the management capabilities of the single Entity but also the overall organizational and coordination capabilities of the Armed Forces. The activity will be repeated also during the 2020, presumably in the spring.

During the exercise week the staff will also have the opportunity to visit the Historical Museum of Vigna di Valle which exhibits aircraft, engines, equipment, equipment and graphic representations that represent the evolution of the Italian Air Force.
