In the afternoon, delicious training and selection for the Tiramisu World Cup with the world champions of the most loved dessert

Tomorrow, Thursday 21 March, the #tiramisuday 2019 will be held at FICO Eataly World. The third edition of the day dedicated to the most famous cake in the world, Tiramisù, focuses this year on a fundamental ingredient: the biscuit. Is it better to use Savoy biscuits or Novara biscuits? The challenge between the recipes in the Bologna Food Park, starting with 12, will be played by the boys of two hotel institutions, and the judgment will be entrusted to a popular jury and one of experts and journalists, of which they will be part of the others the founder of Eataly Oscar Farinetti, Gino Fabbri, president of the Italian Academy of Master Confectioners, and Luca Marchini, chef of the starred restaurant L'Erba del re di Modena and president of the JRE (Jeunes Restaurateurs Italia). At 15,30, the sweetest day of the year will continue with the TWC Warm Up: a delicious workout to prepare the Tiramisu with the Champions of the Tiramisu World Cup, to win the participation in the 2019 edition of the World Tiramisu Championship in Treviso. The world champions Diletta Scandiuzzi and Francesca Piovesana will participate in the Warm Up dessert which, as presidents of the Jury, will give advice to the competitors.

In honor of the #tiramisuday 2019, from Thursday 20 and until Sunday 24 March the space of FICO Eataly World sweets will give surprising interpretations: tiramisu ice cream and the special tiramisu cup of Sicilian Pastry and Carpigiani ice cream shop, the chocolate and the confetti with tiramisu, respectively by Venchi and William Di Carlo; the Cocktail Tiramisù Day, based on the exclusive recipe of the FICO Cocktail bar, made with exclusively Italian liqueurs.

Born in the 2017, the #tiramisuday is becoming everyone's party, while this pudding continues to arouse more and more interest not only in home kitchens and restaurants: popular events on the media and on social media are multiplying, records are being attempted by guinness, while tiramisu is the "European taste" of the year of #gelatoday, the 24 March. The Piedmontese food writers Clara and Gigi Padovani, who dedicated a successful book to the "tiramisu phenomenon", retracing their history and curiosities, are the curators of the day and chose 21 March to celebrate this dessert: the first day of spring it is ideal to "pull yourself up" after the cold and the greyness of winter and give yourself a boost of energy by sinking the spoon into this delicious specialty.

THE #TIRAMISUDAY

Last year, for the #tiramisuday the confectioners of Treviso and Tolmezzo (Ud), the two cities that dispute the birth of the dessert, were challenged in FICO. This year, the largest food park in the world will offer a challenge to the last biscuit among recipes using the Savoiardi Sardi of Biscottificio Moro di Fonni (Nuoro) and the Biscuits of Novara di Camporelli 1852. The desserts will be evaluated by two juries: one popular (free registration on: https://www.eatalyworld.it/it/tiramisu-day-bologna-fico) and one of experts. The latter will be joined by Oscar Farinetti, founder of Eataly, Tiziana Primori, managing director of FICO Eataly World, Duccio Caccioni, scientific coordinator of the FICO Foundation, maestro Gino Fabbri of the La Caramella pastry shop in Bologna, president of the Italian Master Confectioners Academy , Luca Marchini, chef of the restaurant L'Erba del re, Modena (1 Michelin star), president of Jre Italy, Francesco Elmi of Pasticceria Regina di Quadri of Bologna, Maestro AMPI, Peppe Barone, chef of Trattoria delle Torri, Modica (Ra ) and of the Sicilian Restaurant at FICO, Claudio Palumbo, chef of the Eataly Ambassadors restaurant in Bologna, Carlo Ottaviano, food and wine journalist from Il Messaggero, Donato Troiano, director of Informacibo, Fabio Giavedoni, curator of the Slow Wine Guide, world champions of Tiramisu World Cup Diletta Scandiuzzi and Francesca Piovesana and the food writers Clara and Gigi Padovani.

To prepare the desserts there will be two brigades formed by professors and students of the Einstein hotel institute of Loreto (Ancona) and Bartolomeo Scappi of Castel San Pietro Terme (Bologna). At 12 the future pastry chefs will be at work in the Arena Theater, to start the challenge. After the greeting of Oscar Farinetti and Tiziana Primori, Clara and Gigi Padovani will talk about the success of tiramisu in the world and its origins, presenting the two biscuit producers in the race. Tasting and voting by juries, around 14,30, will decide the winning tiramisu.

TRAINING AND SELECTION FOR THE TIRAMISÙ WORLD CUP 2019

From the 15,30, in the Arena of FICO, the second part of the day will start, with the WarmUp of the Tiramisu World Cup 2019, to which everyone can apply as a judge or competitor (info and regulation on https://tiramisuworldcup.com/ news / twc-warmup-fig-tiramisuday /).

The Warm Up are "approach races" to the event that takes place in November: mini-races that propose the same formula as the selections, semifinals and finals of the autumn festival. The "aspiring chefs" (rigorously non-professionals) prepare tiramisu, each according to their own recipe, which can be creative or with an original recipe (with only the ingredients: eggs, ladyfingers, mascarpone, coffee, sugar and cocoa). At the end of the challenge, a jury chaired by the World Champions Diletta Scandiuzzi and Francesca Piovesana decreed the “best Tiramisu”, according to the same criteria as the official TWC competition: technical execution, aesthetic presentation, gustatory intensity, dish balance, flavor and harmony .

The winner enters by right and free of charge the selections of the Tiramisu World Cup 2019 which will be held in Treviso and surroundings.
