The Services Review Meeting (SRM) and the Joint Services Steering Committee (JSSC) of the NATO SATCOM Services 13th Generation program took place in Turin from 15 to 6 June, at the unified army circles.
The choice of location for the important international meeting was not accidental but motivated by the fact that Piedmont boasts an important district in the aerospace sector (Dtight Aaerospace PPiedmont) with 350 companies employing 22 people with a turnover of around 7 billion euros.
As reported by the DAP institutional website, the program NATO SATCOM Services 6th Generation is based on a memorandum of understanding that regulates the supply of capacity of the Satellite Communication Services (SATCOM) to the NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) by a multinational consortium currently made up of France, Great Britain, Italy and the United States, named Quadrilateral Consortium (QC).
As part of the programme, the Italian Defense contributes by making available a portion of the SATCOM capabilities of its constellation of satellites in geostationary orbit called SICRAL. These satellites, in addition to meeting the operational needs of the Defense, represent an important strategic asset for the resilience of the telecommunications network in national security operations and intervention in the event of public disasters, also in support of government institutions and civil organizations.
The national representative at jsc extension is the Chief of the General Space Office of the Defense General Staff, air brigade general Davide Cipelletti, who, on the occasion of the meeting with the representatives of the Allied nations participating in the program, it also wanted to promote the knowledge and promotion of the national industrial realities of the Piedmont Aerospace District, through exchange opportunities and company visits, demonstrating the close link between the Defense and the national aerospace industry.
THEGeneral Space Office of the Defense General Staff it centralizes the functions connected with the evolution of the doctrine, the launch of new programs, the development of national and international partnerships and the evolution of the capabilities of space capabilities.
