Trump. Veto to maintain the emergency declaration on the border with Mexico

The joint resolution presented to the Congress whose goal was to end the national emergency declaration at the southern border with Mexico met with the veto of US President Donald Trump.

"The situation on our southern border remains a national emergency and our military is still needed to help us deal with it," Trump said in his veto message.

Trump had used his presidency's first veto last March to cancel a similar order canceled by the House and Senate. The Congress tried to gather a two-thirds majority to frustrate the veto by the president but failed.

Congress refused to meet Trump's demands to finance a wall, although the US president had made some funds available for border fence and other barriers.

In particular, members of the Congress of both sides were particularly unhappy that Trump had transferred large sums of money from the military budget to finance the construction of the wall, funds for the construction of housing, schools and for the assistance of the childhood for members of the military and their families.
