(by Francesco Matera) The Quirinale was clear, yes to a new majority but also the assurance that there will be a convincing continuity to parliamentary action. As if to say, overcoming the crisis is not the main objective and then the work must proceed with speed especially within the Commissions. In Montecitorio there are no majority problems, in Palazzo Madama, however, yes. The numbers told by the various background stop at 156 senators against the minimum threshold of 161.

If anything, those responsible, also known as constructors, should be confirmed, it would be appropriate for them to unite in a well-defined parliamentary group, we cannot run the risk of resorting each time to the search for the "changing politicians". Identified this new group, Prime Minister Conte could breathe a sigh of relief because he would have found the team able to replace Iv in its entirety. But time is running out and on Monday when he goes up to the House to read an information on the current crisis he will already have the insurance of the new group in the Senate in his pocket. Failing this, Conte would be forced to go up to the Quirinale to resign. Otherwise, if this group was formed quickly, it could even present itself to Mattarella with the new majority asking to be able to receive an assignment to form its third executive.

Conte is therefore working on a new majority with a renewed legislative pact until the natural expiry date, March 2023. The promises made are many, one among all that of structuring the team that will present itself in the next elections. An approach was recorded by the Cesa UDC which could join a Conte List. The next polling stations are also being examined, essentially the division is already underway, considering the reduced number of positions for future parliamentarians in light of the cut suffered by the last referendum reform.

The most accredited scenario for Giuseppe Conte is to collect a narrow majority in the Senate next Tuesday and then go to the Quirinale, resign and receive a new mandate for the Count ter. To present, therefore, to the President of the Republic a new team of ministers, or alternatively just some surgical grafts by unpacking departments and increasing the number of government officials by decree, which by law is blocked at 65.

All this while Renzi, at least in words, was also abandoned by his loyalists within the Pd, Lotti, Guerini, Marcucci & Co.

It is not excluded, however, that on Tuesday in the Senate there may be bitter surprises for Prime Minister Conte, the League would be trying some of the 5Stelle to make the quail jump at the last minute.

A crisis with the outcome already written with a Count ter
