On the occasion of the feast of our #Marina #Militare, one of the strategic pillars of the defense system, I turn my thoughts to the men and women who with their spirit of sacrifice, passion for their work and a high sense of homeland duty, allow Italy to have a leading role in international contexts. Worthy heirs - continues the Hon. #Volpi in una nota - of the heroic deeds of Premuda on 10 June 1918, thanks to which the Italian Naval Forces conquered the necessary supremacy of the Adriatic Sea, thus contributing to the victory of the Great War.
After a little over a century from the memorable enterprise of Luigi Rizzo, my thoughts go to all those who have written on the sea the most beautiful pages in the history of the Navy, also giving their lives for the country and the community.
Strengthened by this wealth, today's sailors, engaged in national and multinational missions, face daily challenges and threats that involve Italy and international peace.
In this context, the high sense of duty and the absolute dedication with which our sailors serve the country and guarantee the safety and stability of the Mediterranean basin and the surrounding waters, from the Gulf of Guinea to the Persian Gulf, are highlighted every day. to the western Indian ocean, vital for our energy supply, the import and export of goods and manufactured goods, the fishing and tourist activities on which our industrial and economic development depends.
To our Marina, the applause for how it very well interprets its essential role of defense of freedom on the sea, of naval diplomacy in the waters of national interest and of support for the country system.
