The flight of the Falcon 50 of the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force has just ended, transporting a very small patient of just six months in imminent danger of life. The transport, which took place with the utmost urgency from Alghero to Genoa, ended with the transfer of the child from the University Hospital (AOU) of Sassari to the “Giannina Gaslini” pediatric hospital in Genoa.

The Falcon 50, one of the assets that the Italian Air Force keeps ready every day and at any time for urgent medical transport, took off this morning from Ciampino airport to board the little patient in Alghero, inside a thermal cradle. . Departed from the Sardinian airport with a medical team on board for assistance during the flight, the military aircraft headed to Genoa where it landed at 12.45.

The medical flight was activated, at the request of the Prefecture of Sassari, from the Summit Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which deals, among other things, with the coordination of this kind of activity in favor of of the civilian population throughout the national territory.

Through its Flight Departments, the Air Force provides vehicles and crews ready to take off at any time and able to operate even in marginal weather conditions to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, as happened today, but also of organs and medical teams for transplants. Hundreds of flight hours are carried out every year for this type of intervention by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare and the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa.
