Wanted III project: captured Albanian fugitive

As part of the Wanted III project of the State Police, aimed at searching for dangerous fugitives, the Modena Mobile Squad, as a result of a targeted and incisive investigative activity, carried out with the help of the Central Operations Service and the Cooperation Service of the Police, proceeded to the capture, with extradition to Italy, of a 45-year-old Albanian citizen, a fugitive since 2003, traced to Switzerland.
In particular, on 6 August, with the help of the Central Operational Service and the Police Cooperation Service, the investigators identified and proceeded to capture with extradition in Italy (through the crossing of the border at Ponte Chiasso) of the subject, fugitive for 17 years, recipient of a cumulative sentence for a total of 15 months 4 and 25 days of imprisonment and a fine of € 68.900,00.
The arrest was also possible thanks to the activation of the European network dedicated to the search and capture of international fugitives (Enfast -European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams) in which Italy participates through the Service for International Police Cooperation of the Directorate Central of the Criminal Police. Thanks to the Enfast network and the support of the Liaison Officer of the aforementioned seconded service in Bern, it was possible to request the intervention of the ENFAST team of the Federal Police of the Swiss Confederation (FEDPOL), which provided targeted localization services which ended positively. The collaboration between the Ministries of Justice of the two countries was also particularly fruitful and this allowed a rapid conclusion of the extradition process and the consequent delivery to Italy of the Albanian fugitive.
The aforementioned was responsible, on the Italian territory, for a series of dangerous crimes starting from 1996, especially in 1999 in Modena, of sexual violence, exploitation and aiding and abetting of prostitution and illegal immigration. The local Squadra Mobile had brought to light one of the first Albanian organizations dedicated to prostitution of which the fugitive was one of the promoters. The Albanian, together with 5 other accomplices of Italian, Albanian and Romanian nationality, had brought numerous Romanian and Moldovan girls to Italy and then made them prostitute. Starting from the year 2003, with the first sentences of conviction for the crimes committed, the 45-year-old had gone into hiding.
The Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Modena, holder for the execution of the arrest order, following the investigative findings that made it possible to identify the fugitive in Switzerland, after he had several times changed country in Europe in order not to be traced , initiated all the judicial procedures for the execution of the provision and the subsequent extradition of the subject to Italy, essential for the execution of the sentence imposed.
The man, after notification of the restrictive measure at the Como-Chiasso border police offices, was transported to the Pavia prison.
In recent months, two other fugitives have been arrested, who had long since become untraceable: a 51-year-old Italian identified and arrested in Romania, where he had taken refuge after being sentenced to 8 years in prison for the crime of sexual violence against minors. , committed between the years 2009 and 2013 against the daughter of the partner and a 33-year-old Albanian citizen, arrested in Bologna following an EAW issued by the Belgian authorities for drug offenses.
