Work: Abi, a digital challenge with new professions and services

The fourteenth annual forum on human resources in the bank has begun: new geographies of labor, market evolution, trade union relations

Banks committed to promoting changes in service models and strategies consistent with rapid technological development and in collaboration with new operators in the fintech world.

Processes, products, the mix of distribution channels change and new professions and new skills are outlined in a sustainable development logic that always sees people at the center. This is also functional in increasing the efficiency, productivity and profitability of the banks so that they continue to play the fundamental role in supporting the economy, in the interests of businesses and families.

This is the introductory message, in short, expressed at the opening in Rome of the fourteenth Abi Forum "HR2019 - Banks and human resources". An "incubator of ideas", in which top experts in human resources, labor relations, the academic and institutional world meet to discuss the present and the future of the sector.

Italian banks are already active in exploiting the enormous information assets available to them, with a view to offering innovative services that increasingly meet customer needs.

However, in order to best seize the greatest opportunities offered by technological innovation, a stabilization of the regulatory framework for the banking sector is needed. At the same time it is necessary to create a leveled competitive ground following the principle of "same services, same risks, same rules, same vigilance" to avoid privileges and advantages for the big technological multinationals.

In this context, the renewal of national collective labor contracts represents a fundamental phase to reconcile, in a sustainable way, the professional and occupational interests of workers and the needs for flexibility and productivity of banking companies.

The work of the Forum will end tomorrow with a Round Table which will be attended by: the Chairman of the Committee for Trade Unions and Labor of Abi, Salvatore Poloni; the General Secretary of Fabi, Lando Maria Sileoni; and the emeritus Professor of the Catholic University of Milan, Tiziano Treu.
