44 refugees from Libya to Italy: activated humanitarian corridor

The Italian embassy in Libya has revealed that Thursday 44 migrants "special needs" have left Libya for Italy, through a new humanitarian legal corridor.
"Migrants left Libya in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of the Interior, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the UN refugee agency UNHCR in Libya", the embassy explained in a tweet.
The step was aimed at helping people in need to reach Italy in safety, far from human traffickers, the embassy explained.
