Dossier Libya: we already think about the summit in Rome after the one in Palermo

After Palermo, we are already thinking of a new summit dedicated to security to be held in Rome. The agenda of the work in Sicily included comparisons between the delegations led by Fayez al Sarraj, Khalifa Hartar, Águila Saleh and Khalid Al-Mishri, on the so-called "security track", or the management of security in Tripoli and Libya.

The Palermo program therefore envisaged a contextual comparison of all four delegations with international partners, then after the latest developments, the bilateral format will be taken. The international partners will listen to the four delegations individually. The friction was registered with the head of the State Council, Al-Mishri, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood considered by Haftar as a terrorist formation like Al Qaeda.

Palermo, La Stampa writes, would then solve a conference to give life to two new conferences in Rome and the one sponsored by the UN to be held in Libya among about 200 representatives of the national civil society as announced two days ago by Ghassan Salame.

Palazzo Chigi flaunts optimism especially on the support of the UN Security Council, and it is true that the presence of heads of state or government of almost all neighboring countries, such as Chad, Niger, Tunisia and Algeria, is confirmed, in addition to the presence at the highest level of Greece and Malta. But Russia will be present with Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and the US with Undersecretary David Satterfield. Sarraj for his part wants to fill up with supports before disembarking in Trinacria, going in particular to Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Emmanuel Macron.
