The Minister of Agriculture, Stefano Patuanelli, signed the decree governing the distribution of the resources of the Fund to support sugar beet growing, established with the DL Sostegni bis.
The measures introduced to contain the epidemiological emergency by Covid - 19 have resulted in a situation of objective difficulty in the sugar supply chain, with the consequent risk of abandoning the national sugar-beet production. For this reason, given the need to ensure production continuity in the sector, support measures were adopted. Specifically, with the introduction of the Fund, 25 million euros have been allocated for the year 2021, to be paid by 31 December 2021 to beet growers who apply.
The same decree governs the procedures for accessing the Fund and the operating procedures for granting aid to beet growers, who will be able to receive an advance of 80% of the contribution due defined on the basis of the areas planted with sugar beet.
