Eni grows in renewable energy in Australia with new projects in the photovoltaic sector

Eni Australia Limited has acquired two photovoltaic projects from 12,5 MWp each in the Northern Territory

Eni, through its subsidiary Eni Australia Limited, has completed the acquisition of two projects for the construction of photovoltaic (PV) plants in Batchelor and Manton Dam, in the Northern Australian Territory, by NT Solar Investments Pty Ltd, a wholly owned by Tetris Energy.

The project will include the installation of 12,5 MWp ground photovoltaic panels (Mega Watt peak) each and will be completed by the third quarter of the 2020.

The installation of innovative technologies for adverse weather forecasts will ensure optimal performance in all weather conditions. Thanks to this technology, the plant will be able to anticipate changes in solar radiation, thus minimizing the impact on the grid. State-owned Jacana Energy will purchase 100% of the production from the new plants that will provide clean energy to over 5.000 households each year.

The new project will create local employment and opportunities for the inhabitants of the Northern Territory, as well as contributing to the government's goal of providing 50% of energy from renewable sources by 2030.

This initiative, together with the 33,7 MWp Katherine photovoltaic power plant project previously announced and currently under construction, strengthens Eni's investment in renewable energy in the Australian market and completes the company's existing assets in the region. Eni's active involvement in the development of projects in the field of renewable energy complements the traditional activity and is a key element of the company's commitment to reducing CO2 emissions.

The development of photovoltaic projects is in line with Eni's strategy in support of an equitable energy transition, in order to preserve the planet and build a future in which everyone can access energy resources in an efficient and sustainable manner.

Eni is present in Australia by the 2000 through its subsidiary Eni Australia Ltd, is operator and owner at 100% of the Blacktip Gas project and has an unoperated stake in the Bayu-Undan gas and condensate field and in the Darwin LNG plant.
