FCA: comments on sales results in the European car market in 2019

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles closes 2019 in Europe with growing sales: in fact, in December it registered more than 69.400 cars, 13,8% more than in the same month of 2018 for a 5,5% share. Instead, there are almost 946.600 registrations throughout 2019, closed with a 6% share.

In the annual overall, the positive result obtained by FCA in Germany should be noted, where sales increase by 4,4% for a share of 3,1%. The Group achieved excellent results in December in Spain (with sales up 23,3% and share at 4,3%, up 0,6 percentage points), in Germany (+ 29,6%) and above all in France: registrations + 35,6% for a share of 3,9%, an increase of 0,2 percentage points.

Positive results for numerous FCA models with growth during the year for Fiat Panda and Jeep Renegade, Cherokee and Wrangler and in December for the Fiat 500, Panda, Tipo, 500X, 500L, Doblò, Qubo and for Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

Fiat brand registrations in December were almost 49.300, an increase of 25,4% compared to the same month of the previous year (significantly higher than the market average), for an increase of 0,1 percentage points, to 3,9 , XNUMX%.

Overall, in 2019 the brand registered just under 660 thousand cars for a 4,2% share.

In December, Fiat increased sales in almost all major European markets: + 2,9% in Italy, + 32,1% in France, + 41,6% in Germany and even + 62,2% in Spain, a truly excellent result in a market that grows by 6,6%.

The significant results obtained by the brand's top models should be noted. Sales of Fiat Panda in 2019 (over 185.100) increased by 9,2% compared to the previous year, for a share of 14,4% which confirms it as the segment leader. Behind it the 500, which with 12.400 registrations in the month improves sales by 20,5%: the car increases its share outside Italy by 0,8 percentage points reaching 15,9% which is the best share ever. In December positive results for Tipo (+ 65,2%) which with 2,5% share (+ 0,2 percentage points) establishes the new quota record outside Italy, 500X (+ 8%), 500L ( + 20,2%), Doblò (+ 295,8%) and Qubo (+ 147,15%).

Alfa Romeo registrations growing in December (over 4.100, + 1% compared to a year earlier) bode well for the beginning of 2020, especially thanks to the Stelvio which increased sales by 30% in the month. Overall, almost 53.900 Alfa Romeo cars were registered during the year, for a share of 0,3%.

Always abundantly above the 167 thousand units, Jeep sales in the year which - after the strong growth of the past years - substantially confirm the highest levels ever reached in Europe. The share in 2019 is 1,1%.

In December, the brand registered over 11.600 cars for a 0,9% share. Also in the month, Jeep increases sales in the United Kingdom (+ 0,3%), Germany (+ 6,9%), France (+ 50,7%) and closes 2019 still growing in the United Kingdom (+ 1,3%) and in Spain (+ 8,7%).

The brand's sales are driven by the Renegade - whose sales in 2019 increased by 9,9% compared to 2018 - the Cherokee (+ 30,8%) and the Wrangler (+ 7,9%).

Lancia sales in 2019 are 58.900, an increase of 20,6% compared to 2018 for a share of 0,4%, +0,1 percentage points compared to the previous year. Over 3.900 sales in December, for a 0,3% share.

As a demonstration of the strong appreciation of customers for Ypsilon, the model is confirmed as the top seller in Italy: it is once again among the top ten in the absolute ranking (second in the year) and is the best seller in the B segment.
