Navy, in Taranto, the last flag of Aliceo Ship

Friday 8 September, at 19.35 at the Navanza Navale Mar Grande (SNMG) in Taranto, after 35 years of activity serving the institutions and the community, the ceremony of the last bail money of the Maritime Navy Frigate Aliseo (F574) at the end of its operational life.

From the day of delivery it has traveled over 600.000 nautical miles (which correspond to about 28 times the equator length) and visited 70 different ports, of which 48 foreign, on three continents.

With the cancellation from the roles of the Aliceo Frigate military navy, the Navy's fleet upgrade process continues. In fact, there has long been a plan that has seen the dismissals, for wear and tear, of important Naval Units such as the Maestral Frigate, the Minerva Corps, Sibilla, Danaide, Urania, the Granatiere and Gunner Holly Pattuglatori and Lerici and Sapri.

The Aliseo Frigate Combat Banner will be delivered to the Navy Chief of Staff during the ceremony to be kept in Rome in the Shrine of Armed Forces battalions inside the Altar of the Homeland.

The story tells us that in the far 9 september 1943 Aliseo torpedoed, under the command of Frigate Captain Carlo Fecia of Cossato, faced 7 small Germanic units (2 hunters and five barges) fleeing from Bastia harbor early in the morning, sinking all despite their reaction. After the combat, Commander Di Cossato recovered the German shipwrecked and rescued them in Portoferraio.
