Military Navy: operational technical activity hampered by private boat

This morning the hydrographic ship Ammiraglio Magnaghi, during the phases of exit from the port of La Spezia to carry out a technical operational activity aimed at verifying the efficiency of the platform equipment and hydrographic instrumentation, was approached by a private boat with on board a television crew from the “Le Iene” program.

This boat, repeating some unpleasant episodes that happened recently on the national territory, with its maneuvers has hindered the movements of the Unit. This unacceptable behavior towards a means of the Armed Force that performs fundamental tasks for the defense of the country and the protection of the community, has put at risk the safety of navigation and the same safety of the occupants of the dinghy.

The Commander of Ship Magnaghi Captain of Frigate Langellotto, who managed to avoid any consequences deriving from the unusual behavior of the boat, represented that "the crew asked to get on board asking me to show the certificates relating to the analyzes conducted to verify the compliance of the water used on board ".

He also added that "this behavior is extremely inexplicable because the Unit is in possession of the required certifications of compliance of the on board water with the provisions of the current regulations".

“The analyzes, conducted to protect the health of the personnel - explains Commander Langellotto - were also carried out by a laboratory outside the Navy which operates in compliance with the most stringent European regulations”.

In this regard, it is emphasized that these attitudes do not affect the image of an Armed Force that always acts with a great sense of responsibility for the protection of the health of its personnel, in all circumstances, through adequate controls, high safety standards and use of the most advanced technologies. advanced to make our ships increasingly oriented, in addition to the defense of the country from the sea and the sea, to the needs of the community and the well-being of the crew.

Of what happened, which does not give credit to the important informational activity carried out by MEDIASET newspapers, information will be given to the competent bodies for screening in the appropriate offices.
