Barbara D'Urso's program, Afternoon Cinque exclusively broadcast a phone call on December 9 between Luigi Capasso and his wife Antonietta Gargiulo. During that Capasso call he also spoke with his eldest daughter, Alessia.
Capasso:
"Hi Alessia, I have tickets to go and see the lights at the Ariccia Park, would you like to go and see them tomorrow with me?" Alessia: “I don't know”. Capasso: “Don't worry about dad, I won't do anything to you” Alessia: “I know you would never hurt me”. Capasso: “No, never never”. Alessia: “I know… but I don't know, that is, immediately, like this”. Capasso: “Alessia if we ever try to be together (…)”. Alessia: "But alone I don't ...".
Il Carabiniere often recorded conversations with his wife and this was part of his obsession. Antonietta on the phone seems angry, but especially frightened just like her eldest daughter Alessia.
Luigi wanted to take his daughters to the Enchanted Park of the Ariccia illuminations. From the phone call it is understood that the wife does nothing to prevent the relationship between the daughters and the father. But it is the little girls who are scared.
Antonietta repeats to her husband:
“You know what you did” suggesting that there have been numerous episodes of family violence. “With the separation you recovered the good relations with me, I feel bad I want to be quiet with my daughters”, says Antonietta. "We all know the truth, I would be the happiest person in the world if you cured yourself, and became a better man and father, but I know so much that you don't go to a psychologist".
The officer tries to justify himself, tries a shy approach perhaps with a meek attitude, perhaps due to the fact that he was recording the call. But Antonietta appears adamant.
“You had it all, two smart daughters a wife who loved you and you ruined everything. For 16 years you have mistreated, beaten and betrayed me. I no longer oblige the girls to do anything, they are afraid but I oblige them to do only one thing, say a prayer for you ".
Eighty-one days after this phone call, Capasso shot his wife, gravely wounded her, exterminated her daughters, and then committed suicide.
The question must be asked: could it have been avoided? Everyone knew but no one did anything, or everyone underestimated. Do the police officers who hold a firearm carry out psychophysical examinations annually? Apparently the visits to the psychologist are carried out only at the time of enrollment, then for the entire duration of the service nothing else.
It would be necessary "immediately" to foresee annual psychophysical visits to law enforcement officers, the military and, why not, also to teachers who spend a lot of time with our children: see the teacher from Turin who threatens to threaten the cops died.
