Sardinia: double emergency medical transport for the Air Force

There has just been a sanitary transport carried out with a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31 ° Flock of Military Air Force Ciampino in favor of two patients in imminent danger of life. 

A 63-year-old man and a 20-day-old infant on board a thermal cradle were boarded at the Cagliari-Elmas airport on the military aircraft to be urgently transferred respectively to the Bologna airport, to then reach with an ambulance from the Civil Hospital of Baggiovara (MO), and at the military airport of Linate (MI), the closest airport to the IRCCS Policlinico San Donato of San Donato Milanese (MI). 

The requests for intervention were received by the Prefecture of Cagliari at the Top Situations Room of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which has among its tasks that of organizing and managing - in coordination with Prefectures, Hospitals and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers - this kind of transport throughout the national territory. 

The transport aircraft and helicopters of the Air Force are ready 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, to intervene for public utility missions such as the emergency medical transport of people in imminent danger of life or that of organs and medical teams for transplants. 

The service covers the entire national territory, including the islands, and when requested by the competent authorities it is also carried out in favor of Italian citizens who are abroad.
