With the Council of Ministers n. 25 the Government has appointed the new Chief of Defense Staff, General Enzo Vecciarelli that will be replaced at the summit of the Italian Air Force, the next 31 October, by the Air Force General Alberto Rosso.
The General Alberto Rosso he leaves the position of Chief of Staff of the Minister of Defense, Elisabetta Trenta.
The next November 6 the Chief of Staff of the Ceding Defense, General Claudio Graziano will assume the position of President of the Military Committee of the European Union (Chairman of the European Union Military Committee - CEUMC)
The Chief of Defense Staff is appointed by the Council of Ministers on the proposal of the Minister of Defense, after hearing the head of the Armed Forces, the President of the Republic.
General Vecciarelli arrived at the congratulations from Minister Trenta: "The most sincere wishes for the new prestigious appointment, which I am sure will carry on with commitment, determination, professionalism and sense of institutions".

Biography
Il Enzo Vecciarelli Team General, "Hunting Interceptor" pilot, spent many years of his career at the 4 ° Stormo of Grosseto, where he held all the operational positions, including that of Group Leader in 1991 and Storm's Commander from 1999 to 2002, achieving a total of over 2600 flight hours, including more than 2000 on the F104 Starfighter aircraft.
From the 1993 to the 1999 it was employed at the I Department of the Air Force Staff, first as Head of the Employees Personnel and then as Head of the Sorting Department. He also carried out management activities at the General Staff of the Logistic Command, where he held, between 2002 and 2004, the positions of Head of General Planning, Head of Operations and Deputy Chief of Staff.
In 2003 he commanded the first air force contingent in Iraq at the Tallil Air Base (Nassiriya). Subsequently, General Vecciarelli held the position of Deputy Head of the III Department - Armaments Policy - at the General Secretariat of Defense and, at the same time, as National Representative to the most important European organizations such as EDA (European Defense Agency), the OCCAR (Joint Armaments Co-operation Organization) and the LOI (Letter of Intent) in charge of the reorganization and development of a common arms policy in Europe.
From 2007 to 2010 Gen.SA Vecciarelli was Defense and Aeronautics Officer at the Italian Embassy in Berlin with secondary accreditation for the Netherlands and Denmark.
Commander of the Combat Forces based in Milan in the 2010 and Chief of Staff of the Air Squadron Command in the 2011, from the 2012 to the 2015 he served as Director of the IV Armament Programs Coordination Department at the General Secretariat of Defense / DNA.
From 26 February 2015 to 29 March 2016 held the position of Deputy Chief of Staff of Defense.
The 30 March 2016 has assumed the post of Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
The Gen. SA Vecciarelli comes from the Rostro 2 Course of the Aeronautical Academy. He obtained a pilot's license at Laughlin Air Base (Texas) and a Fighter Pilot qualification at the Holloman Air Base (New Mexico). He also attended the Normal and Superior Courses of the Air War School of Florence, theAir War College at the 'Air University of Maxwell (Alabama), the Defense Resource Management Course at Naval Postgraduate College of Monterey (California) and the SERA (Session Européenne des Responsables d'Armement) at the Center des Hautes Etudes de l'Armement - Ecole Militaire in Paris.
Gen. SA Vecciarelli holds a degree in Aeronautical Sciences at the Federico II University of Naples and in International and Diplomatic Sciences at the University of Trieste. He is awarded the Knight of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, of the Mauritian Medal, of the NATO Medals for Operations in the Former Yugoslavia and Unified Protector for operations in Libya, the commemorative medal for peace operations in Iraq, the honor of an officer of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Medal "Merit Santos-Dumont" of the Ministry of Defense of Brazil.
Married to Mrs. Amelia, he has two sons, Claudio and Federica.
Il Alberto Red Team General, born in Genoa on 29 September 1959, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1978, with the Uranus Course 3 °, of which he is "saber of honor".
Patented US military pilot in the 1983, he spent most of his operations as an Air Defense pilot.
In May 1984 is assigned to the 4 ° Stormo, where the IX Hunting Group commands from 1994 to 1995 on F 104 aircraft.
In 1996 it is assigned to the Air Force Staff where it remains until 2002 holding various positions in the fields of operations, military policy, general planning and financial.
In June of the 2002 he assumes the role of Commander of the 4 ° Stormo, which maintains 2004 until July, together with the position of Director of the 4 ° RMV.
Assigned to the Defense General Staff - 3 ° Reparto holds between 2004 and 2007 the position of Head of Political Office of the Covenants and subsequently that of Deputy Head of Department, until March 2010.

It has around 3000 hours of flight, mainly on single-seat fighter aircraft and of these over 2000 on FXXUMX, enabled on aircraft: EF 104, F2000 (all versions), SIAI 104, SIAI 260, T 208, T 37 , MB 38, MB 326, Fiat G 339, AB 91 (helicopter), Twin Astir (glider).
Gen. Rosso holds a Master's Degree in Aeronautical Military Sciences at the Federico II University of Naples, is married to Mrs. Flavia and has two children, Federica and Enrico.
