This morning the Orsa Maggiore school ship arrived in the port of Funchal (Portugal), where it will stop until 30 August. The stop will take place as part of the 2018 Education Campaign in favor of ten aspiring officers Guardiamarina of the third class of the Livorno Naval Academy.
The ship, delivered to the Navy in the 1994, is one of the minor sailing units that contribute to the professional training and ethics of the personnel, with the aim of applying the theoretical lessons acquired during the past year at the Armed Forces Training Institute , acquire more maritime experience and strengthen the team spirit typical of the Navy crews.
After Funchal, the Orsa Maggiore ship will continue to sail in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, continuing towards the port of Tangier (Morocco), before returning the September 22 to Livorno, where it will conclude the Education Campaign.
During the stop in Funchal, the population will have the opportunity to visit the unit during the following times:
Tuesday 28 August from 16:30 to 19:00;
Wednesday 29 August from 10:30 to 12:00.
