The little girl was transported, inside a thermal cradle, with a C-130J aircraft of the 46th Air Brigade to be admitted to the Infant Jesus of Rome.
The flight of the C130J of the 46th Air Brigade of the Italian Air Force has just ended, carrying a child of less than a month in imminent danger of life. The transport, which took place with the utmost urgency from Alghero to Ciampino, ended with the transfer of the baby to the Bambino Gesù pediatric hospital in Rome.
The C130, one of the assets that the Air Force keeps ready every day and at any time for urgent medical transport, had taken off from Pisa airport in the early afternoon towards Alghero, from where it left with the small, embarked inside a thermal cradle, assisted by a team from the Sassari hospital where she was hospitalized from birth.
The medical flight was activated, at the request of the Prefecture of Sassari, from the Summit Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which deals, among other things, with the coordination of this kind of activity in favor of of the civilian population throughout the national territory.
Through its Flight Departments, the Air Force provides vehicles and crews ready to take off at any time and able to operate in any weather condition to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, as happened today. , but also of organs and medical teams for transplants. Hundreds of flight hours are carried out every year for this kind of intervention by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, of the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare and, as in this case, of the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa.
