The Armed Forces have confirmed themselves as a powerful tool for the defense of legality and, thanks to the collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea today, even more, for the prevention of crimes that threaten the health of citizens due to the spill and illegal disposal of waste in our country.
It all started last February, when we decided to collaborate by putting together the best Aerospace and Environment skills and technologies to develop innovative environmental monitoring, implementing Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities with Aeronautics assets Military.
From this point of view, the possibility of carrying out an activity for was identified as the first form of cooperation integrate advanced environmental monitoring, based on a hierarchical process of acquisitions from satellites, planes and drones.
Thanks to the project strongly supported by the Minister Trenta called "Dual Systemic Use of Defense Capabilities" all the Ministries have been able to learn about the tools and skills they can use, in an inter-ministerial and interdisciplinary perspective, to intervene more effectively on problems that have been afflicting our country for decades.
The cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea has seen two distinct moments: an initial phase for the definition, testing and validation of the new operating model and a second phase in which, with a specific one agreement coordinated by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, seven Ministries and the Campania Region, the "Action Plan for the Combating of Burnings of Waste" was signed, signed in Caserta last November.
The next step was the operational agreement signed between the Presidency of the Council, thanks to the work of the President of the Coordination Unit, Ing. Curcio, and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force Miliatare Gen. Rosso, in the presence of us Undersecretaries of the two dicasteries.
The result of all this is that all the information deriving from the sensors present on the aircraft of the Italian Air Force today is promptly at the service of those who monitor areas of high environmental risk and will be added to all other surveys to provide a more complete picture of the situation.
The Land of Fires has become a place to experiment with the best military technologies in our possession to really improve the lives of citizens through continuous monitoring useful to fight eco-mafias with greater force.
But there's more! just a few days ago, near the town of Giugliano (NA), what could have been turned into another fire was thwarted! In particular, a significant increase was noted in the improper accumulation of waste and above all a further partial covering of tires such as to form a real pyre ready for priming.
The timely notification to the structure of the Commissioner delegated to the Land of Fires has enabled the intervention teams to be activated in time, which promptly removed everything before it was set on fire.
All this demonstrates the model's effectiveness and prevention capacity.
This news fills our hearts with joy because thanks to the intense efforts of the Minister of Defense, the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea, the President of the IV Commission Gianluca Rizzo, of the Air Force, technicians such as 'Ing. Massimiliano Lega and Ing. Curcio this model is also effective to prevent crimes against the health of citizens.
We are happy to be able to say that we have put a piece to the solution of a problem of this magnitude and we are sure that after the law on eco-crimes of the past Legislature this represents an important new step to restore the right to legality in many areas of our beautiful Italy.
