You can breathe Aeronautica Militare at the "Turin Book Fair"

(by Massimiliano D'Elia) As every year, La Difesa participates in the 32nd edition of the Turin Book Fair to promote and advertise the products and publishing initiatives of the Armed Forces. The theme of this year's edition of the International Book Fair is "The game of the world". A world for which the Italian Armed Forces have been committed, for over a decade, to contribute to peacemaking processes, or to counteract “dangerous” phenomena and initiatives for national security.

There is a new vigor in the publishing of the military air force in Turin with proposals for volumes and with renewed attention to the growing communication needs of the general public of readers always curious about original proposals.

An audience that is increasingly fascinated by the aeronautical world and by the dimension of "air and space" use by one of the most "loved" Italian armed forces. The admiration for the pilots, for the specialists and for everything that orbits the aircraft is palpable at every air show. The fascination for flying is natural, spontaneous but then seeing a piece of Italy up there working every day and night for all of us with very high-level results, appreciated and often envied, makes us extremely proud. The public has, therefore, the desire to deepen the aeronautical world and get to know more closely "flight" and the emotions of "pilots". In this regard, the editorial proposals dedicated to "flight" and the excellence of "our pilots" presented at the Turin Book Fair are very interesting.

100 Years Groups 20, curated by Stefano Cosci

Un instant book created on the occasion of the Centenary of the 20 Groups of the Italian Air Force (20 °, 21 °, 22 ° and 23 °) to learn and in some cases rediscover facts that are small and large from which to capture those that today, like a hundred years ago, are the founding values of the Armed Forces. A book where the news is to make history to offer, for each Flight Group, a cross-section, operational and above all human, able to return the spirit that has distinguished it in these 100 years. But also a volume that wants to represent a further, necessary, tribute of gratitude to the Aviators who preceded us and who have left us a great heritage made of loyalty, courage, a sense of duty, boldness, altruism and spirit of service, a legacy to be transmitted to future generations.

And yet, in this area the Air Force has a tradition that starts from afar, since the dawn of our military aviation and that, in an ever better combination of theories, techniques and tools, and in a constant synergy with the national aeronautical industry has led to the creation of a training system that is at the forefront in the world, enviable and enviable excellence, achieved precisely with the constant and balanced work of all the components involved in the process. In this volume you will find not only airplanes and brave men, business stories of the past or detailed technical sheets, but the complex system that "transmutes" a passion, that of flying, into a profession useful to the country and its citizens.

A history of excellence, various authors

When we talk about flight and its military application it is easier to find volumes focused on perhaps more attractive topics ranging in the field of emotions and passions or, rather, in the doctrinal or technical-operational fields of theory and use, that is, of air power in military operations. We often talk about passion for flight, audacity, historical tradition, technology and technique, organization of a mission, less than those components that represent one of the bases on which all this is based: the training and training of flight crew. In this volume you will find not only airplanes and brave men, business stories

Volare Alto, by Jan Slangen

For Jan Slangen - former pilot and commander of the Frecce Tricolori - the flight represents a metaphor of life. To take flight, as to reach the goals of every day, passion and balance are not enough, you also need a pair of wings, real or imaginary, with which to realize your dreams. This book is the compelling story of a curious and attentive child who comes to lead the most admired team of pilots in the world. Sliding through the clouds, Slangen learns to live with his feet firmly on the ground: from the birth of his vocation, almost by chance, to long training, to the point of drawing breathtaking evolutions with the colors of the Italian flag. A journey through emotions and fears gathered here for the first time, a story about the realization of one's desires, the strength of imagination and the rigor it requires, on the search for a happiness that is often much closer than we think. "These pages are a declaration of love. If I write, it's to try to explain why flying makes you fall in love so much. And above all, because it is so beautiful when we are reciprocated. But also because hovering in the air fills like no other thing; because, from up there, everything seems clearer - outside and inside us; because even the most distant things and people suddenly appear closer to us; and because everything seems to find a more authentic, higher, deeper meaning. "
