Military Air Force: urgent medical transport for a 1-year-old girl

The little one was transported from Naples to Genoa with a Falcon 50 jet of the 31st Stormo

A 1-year-old girl, hospitalized at the "Santobono" hospital in Naples, was urgently transported from the Neapolitan capital to Genoa aboard a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force in the early hours of today.

The request for transport, as required by the emergency procedures, was received from the Prefecture of Genoa to the Summit Situation Room of the Air Force Command, the operations room of the Air Force which has among its duties that of arranging and managing this type of missions through the activation of one of the aircraft that the Armed Forces keeps ready 24 hours a day, in various bases, for this kind of need.

The little girl, followed by the medical team previously taken from the Gaslini hospital in Genoa, was embarked on board the military aircraft, to take off at 4:00 from the Naples airport where she was hospitalized.

After an hour's flight, the military plane reached the "Cristoforo Colombo" international airport of Genoa where the little girl was transferred by ambulance for subsequent admission to the "Giannina Gaslini" hospital in the capital of the Liguria region.

Subsequently, the aircraft then returned to Ciampino airport, where it resumed operational readiness service.

The Air Force Flight Departments are available to the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with vehicles and crews able to operate, even in complex weather conditions, to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger to life, but also to organs, medical teams or ambulances.

Hundreds of flight hours are carried out every year for this kind of intervention by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa and the helicopters of the 15th Wing of Cervia.
