The medical transport was carried out with a Falcon 50 of the 31 ° Stormo di Ciampino

The life-saving flight carried out by a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31st Stormo of the Italian Air Force has just concluded, which took off from Reggio Calabria airport and landed at Ciampino airport (RM) with a 44-year-old man on board in imminent danger to life.

The request for an immediate transfer, from the Tiberio Evoli Melito Hospital in Porto Salvo (RC) to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome, was made by the Prefecture of Reggio Calabria to the Summit Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Military Air Force which has among its tasks that of organizing and managing this kind of transport throughout the national territory.

The patient had been embarked in the early afternoon on board the military aircraft at Reggio Calabria airport together with the medical team. As soon as he landed at Ciampino airport, the transport continued by ambulance to the Roman hospital.

Through its Flight Departments, the Air Force provides means and crews ready to take off at any time and able to operate even in complex weather conditions to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, as happened today, but also of organs and medical teams for transplants. Hundreds of flight hours are carried out every year for this type of intervention by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 15th Wing of Cervia and the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa.
