Aeronautica Militare: emergency flight in the night, from Pescara to Pisa for a man in imminent danger of life

The man, in very serious conditions, was transported by Falcon 900 aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino

The life-saving flight, carried out by a Falcon 900 of the Italian Air Force, which carried a man in imminent danger of life during the night, ended in the early hours of the morning.

The 43-year-old patient, admitted to the Pescara Civil Hospital, needed to be transferred with extreme urgency to the Large Burns Center in Pisa.

At the request of the Prefecture of Pescara to the Situation Room at the Summit of the Air Squadron Command, the Air Force immediately interested the 31st Wing of Ciampino, one of the AM Storms in operational readiness for this kind of missions.

Having started the procedures necessary for the activation of the crew, the Falcon 900 took off from the Roman military base at around 1.30 am. After landing at Pescara airport, the patient, assisted by a specialized medical team, was immediately boarded on the aircraft for emergency transport. The landing took place at the Pisa Airport around 2:50 am, from here the man was transferred by ambulance to the Centro Grandi Ustioni in Pisa to receive the necessary treatment.

Air Force crews and transport aircraft are ready every single day of the year, 24 hours a day, to ensure, where required and deemed necessary for reasons of urgency, the medical transport of people in imminent danger of life, organs or medical teams. Hundreds of flight hours are carried out every year for this kind of interventions, in support of citizens, by the aircraft of the 24st Wing of Ciampino, the 31th Wing of Pratica di Mare and the 14th Air Brigade of Pisa. In the latter case, the C46J aircraft, thanks to their size, are able to transport an ambulance inside, where required. Where there are particular operational needs, the Air Force also employs the helicopters of the 130th Wing of Cervia.
