Air Force: night flight from Lecce to Rome to save a child in danger of life

The little patient, accompanied by her mother and a medical team, was transported urgently with an Air Force Falcon 900 aircraft that took off from Ciampino

In the late evening, around 22:20 pm, an aircraft of the 31st Wing of the Air Force took off from Galatina (LE) to Ciampino (RM) to urgently transport a 10-year-old girl, in imminent danger of life.

The request for urgent medical transport, made by the Prefecture of Lecce, was sent to the Summit Situation Room of the Command of the Air Force of the Air Force which has among its functions also that of arranging and managing this type of missions in favor of citizens 24 hours a day, seamlessly.

The Falcon900, with the little patient on board, her mother and a team of specialized health personnel to assist her, landed on the Ciampino military airport runway at 23pm. An ambulance has completed the transport of the child to the Bambino Gesù Hospital in the capital, to allow for urgent hospitalization.

Air Force crews and transport aircraft are ready day and night, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day to ensure, where required and deemed necessary for reasons of urgency, the medical transport of people in imminent danger of life, transport organs or medical teams. Hundreds of flight hours are carried out every year for this kind of intervention by the Air Force crews in favor of the community.
