Air Force: life-saving flight of an F900 from Lecce to Bologna

The aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino transported a 48-year-old patient, in danger of life, to the Sant'Orsola Polyclinic

The emergency medical transport of a man in imminent danger of life, accompanied from Lecce to Bologna by a Falcon 22 of the 40st Wing of Ciampino, ended around 2pm yesterday 900 February.

At the request of the Prefecture of the Apulian city to the COA (Aerospace Operations Command) of the Air Force, the aircraft departed from Rome-Ciampino Airport headed for Lecce, to embark the patient and the medical team coming from the Santa Caterina Novella Hospital in Galatina. The flight then departed towards Bologna Airport, where, upon arrival, a waiting ambulance accompanied the passengers to the Sant'Orsola Polyclinic.

Emergency medical transport is one of the institutional activities that the Air Force carries out at the service of the community. The 31st Wing is one of the departments that carries out the operational readiness service for this type of missions. The Air Force's flight departments are available to the population 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with vehicles and crews capable of ensuring the transport of patients, organs, medical teams and ambulances even in complex weather conditions.

Hundreds of flight hours are carried out every year for this type of intervention by the planes of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa and the helicopters of the 15th Wing of Cervia.
