Air Force. Urgent flight from Alghero to Genoa for a life-threatening baby girl

During the morning of today, 5 September, the emergency medical transport carried out by a crew of a Falcon 900 of the 31 ° Stormo of the Italian Air Force that took off on the Alghero - Genoa route to transfer a baby girl of a few months in imminent danger of life.

The request for transport, as foreseen in these cases, was received by the Prefecture of Sassari at the Situation Room at the Summit of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which has among its tasks that of arranging and managing this type of missions through the activation of one of the aircraft that the Armed Force keeps ready 24 hours a day, in various bases, for this kind of need.

The Falcon 900 took off from Ciampino military airport, headquarters of the 31 ° Stormo, towards Alghero airport. Here the little patient was boarded, together with the specialist medical team, on the military aircraft which immediately left for Genoa.

After landing at Genoa airport, which took place at around 13:30, the newborn was transferred by ambulance to be admitted to the Istituto Giannina Gaslini pediatric hospital where she will receive the necessary medical care.

Missions of this type require maximum timeliness. The Air Force Flight Departments are available to the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with vehicles and crews capable of operating, even in complex weather conditions, to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger to life, but also to organs, medical teams or ambulances.
