Aeronautica Militare, urgent flight from Lamezia Terme to Rome for a newborn in imminent danger of life

The medical transport was carried out with a Falcon 900 aircraft of the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force

In the middle of last night, the Air Force Falcon 900 landed at the Ciampino (RM) military airport. It took off from Lamezia Terme with a newborn on board in need of urgent life-saving treatment.  

The medical flight was arranged, at the request of the Prefecture of Reggio Calabria, by the Summit Situation Room of the Command of the Air Force of the Air Force which has, among other tasks, also that of coordinating this kind of activity in favor of the civilian population on everything the national territory. 

The military aircraft, which initially took off from Ciampino airport, reached Lamezia Terme airport, where it boarded the little patient - just 23 days old - and a medical team from the Locri hospital (RC).  

Around 23.55 pm, the Falcon 900 then landed at Ciampino airport, where an ambulance completed the medical transport to the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome.  

The air rescue activity is carried out with crews and transport aircraft of the Air Force and consists of an intense teamwork that requires professionalism, training and dedication. Thousands of flight hours are carried out every year by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 15th Wing of Cervia and the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, always on the front line in case of emergency .
