This morning, the reorganization ceremony of the Furbara military airport took place 1st Special Operations Air Brigade (BAOS) which saw its relocation from Cervia to that of Furbara and its hierarchical change, which passed under the direct control of the Air Squad Command. At the same time, the alternation ceremony at the top of the Brigade took place between the General of the Air Division Achille Cazzaniga ed Brigadier General Riccardo Rinaldi.

At the event, organized in compliance with the containment measures provided for the COVID-19 emergency and chaired by the Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force, Alberto Red Team General, military authorities from the Special Operations sectors of all the Armed Forces took part, as well as civil, military and religious authorities from the neighboring municipalities of Cerveteri, Ladispoli and Santa Marinella.

This revision aims to further enhance these peculiar abilities, focusing exclusively on special operations the skills of the 1st BAOS, which will thus be able to consolidate its role as a point of reference in the chain of command and control of the sector, as well as the sole and authoritative interlocutor. of Armed Force against the COFS ". La 1st Special Operations Air Brigade ensures the specialization and training of Special Forces (Incursors), Air Support Forces for Special Operations (SAOS) and for Personnel Recovery activities, ensuring constant updating of procedures, standardization and integration of training activities , as well as the efficiency of the weapon systems and necessary means. Furthermore, it has the task of expressing the skills necessary to set up a structure of a highly specialized, versatile Special Operation Air Task Group (SOATG) with high levels of operational readiness for exercises and operations both at the Armed Force level and in the joint international. They depend on the 1st BAOS, the 17th Stormo Incursori of Furbara and the 9th Wing of Grazzanise; it also has a technical connection with the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa for the updating of procedures, standardization and integration of the SAOS training activity of the fixed wing aircraft component.
