A little girl of only 3 months old, suffering from serious heart problems and in imminent danger of life, in the early afternoon of today was transported urgently with an Air Force Falcon 50 from Alghero to Genoa, for the subsequent hospitalization. at the “Giannina Gaslini” pediatric hospital.
The little girl was hospitalized at the University Hospital of Sassari when her clinical conditions required immediate transfer to the specialized treatment center in the Ligurian capital. The emergency air transport, as usual, was requested by the Prefecture of Sassari and immediately arranged and coordinated by the Top Situation Room of the Air Squad Command the operations room of the Air Force which has among its tasks also to activate and manage urgent medical transport, through the aircraft that the Armed Force keeps ready, 24 hours a day, for this kind of need.
The aircraft took off from Alghero airport, with the tiny patient on board and a medical team for assistance during the flight, landed at Genoa airport at around 14.30 pm. After the disembarkation of the patient, the aircraft departed for the Rome-Ciampino airport from where it resumed its operational readiness service.
Through its Flight Departments, the Air Force provides vehicles and crews ready to take off at any time and able to operate even in complex weather conditions to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, as happened today, but also of organs and medical teams for transplants.
