Aeronautics: emergency medical flight from Brindisi to Rivolto for a man in danger of life

 The patient was transported with a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo to be admitted to a hospital in Udine.

Last night a 49-year-old man in imminent danger of life due to a serious pathology was transported urgently from Brindisi to Rivolto aboard a Falcon 50 plane of the 31 ° Stormo of the Italian Air Force for the subsequent hospitalization in the “Santa Maria della Misericordia” hospital in Udine.

The Falcon 50, one of the assets that the Italian Air Force keeps ready every day and at any time for urgent medical transport, took off at about 01.45 from Ciampino airport, home of the 31st Wing.

After landing in Brindisi, the patient was boarded on the aircraft together with a family member and a medical team to ensure assistance during the flight. After leaving the Apulian city, around 05:30 the plane landed at the Rivolto airport, from where the patient was transferred by ambulance to Udine.

The medical flight was activated, at the request of the Prefecture of Lecce, from the Summit Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which deals, among other things, with the coordination of this kind of activity in favor of of the civilian population throughout the national territory.

Through its Flight Departments, the Italian Air Force provides vehicles and crews ready to take off at any time and able to operate in any weather condition to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, as happened today. , but also of organs and medical teams for transplants. Hundreds of flight hours are carried out every year for this type of intervention by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare and the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa.
