Afghanistan. 34 dead from a mine explosion

At least 34 people were killed by a mine explosion in Afghanistan. According to reports from local authorities, the explosion occurred at dawn, in the province of Farah, in the western part of Afghanistan. According to reports by Muhibullah Muhib, spokesman for the provincial police, a bus, "loaded with passengers" hit a mine on the road connecting with the south of the country.

The balance of the injured, 17, is also serious, according to the latest news.

The massacre comes the day after the publication of a report by the UN mission in Afghanistan (Unama), which documents how the number of civilian casualties in almost two decades of Afghan conflict continues to be extremely high: 1.366 dead and 2.446 wounded only in the first half of the 2019.

According to UNAMA, the “zero casualties” goal - agreed in Doha during the negotiations between the representatives of the United States, Afghan society and the Taliban - is far from being achieved. In fact, if we consider the numbers of 2019, we already count 717 victims due to the actions of the Afghan and international forces; and only 531 deaths were caused by rebel groups such as the Taliban and ISIS: and this is an absolute novelty since we began to collect these data, in 2009.
