Afghanistan, raid on a school in Kunduz: 59 dead, many children

At least 59 dead and 57 injured are the latest toll from the Afghan air raid that yesterday hit a school in Kunduz, in the north-east of Afghanistan.

To make it known two sources of security that, on condition of anonymity. confirmed that "59 people died, most of them children aged 8" and others "57 were injured" some in very serious conditions. Among the victims, the same sources added, also "17 Taliban".

The raid was made at noon during a year-end ceremony.

Wahid Majroh, spokesman for the health ministry, confirmed this morning that "57 civilians, including children and the elderly, were taken to the Kunduz regional hospital along with five corpses".

The assistance mission in Afghanistan (Manua) announced the dispatch of a team from the Human Rights Division to the scene to "establish the facts".
