Agrigento: arrested by the State Police two Egyptians for aiding illegal immigration

The State Police of Agrigento, on Saturday evening 24 November us, carried out the arrest of six citizens of Egyptian nationality, held responsible for the crime of facilitating illegal immigration.

During the investigative activity conducted by the policemen of the Flying Squad and the military of the Guardia di Finanza of Lampedusa, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Agrigento, heavy evidence was collected against the six detainees, all aged between 38 and the 23 years.

According to the investigation, the six Egyptian citizens have carried out the illegal transport of 68 migrants from Libya to Italy by illegally introducing them into the national territory through the maritime border of Lampedusa where they arrived on the night of 23 November us.

Once the migrants had been boarded in Libya, the detainees were first transported aboard a motor trawler and, subsequently, transhipped onto a towed vessel that was rescued at sea by Italian naval units.

Since the beginning of the year, 22 people have been arrested by the Mobile Squad of Agrigento to facilitate illegal immigration.
