Justice, EU ministers. Cartabia: "on digital data retention, legislative harmonization and respect for personal rights"

"An initiative of legislative harmonization is highly desirable, respecting the guarantees for the rights of the person". On the conservation of digital data, the Keeper of Seals, Marta Cartabia, recalls the rulings of the Court of Justice during the videoconference of the EU Justice Ministers.

The summit also covered the DSA, Digital service act proposal, the package of proposals of the European Commission on digital and fundamental rights.

For the Minister Cartabia, it is necessary to find the "difficult balance between not hindering the digital innovation process and guaranteeing that online individuals can enjoy all the protections, even with respect to hate speech".

On the subject of fundamental rights, the head of Justice announced that on January 13 the examination of the amendments to the Constitutional Affairs Commission for the establishment of the National Commission for the promotion and protection of fundamental human rights began in Italy. "The European Agency for Fundamental Rights in Vienna - for the Minister Cartabia - to be truly effective, it is necessary to coordinate with the twin institutions at a territorial level".
