Chaos Albania, oppositions take to the streets: "the government building is attacked"

In Tirana, the Albanian opposition led by Lulzim Basha is demonstrating against the government of the socialist premier Edi Rama (elected in 2017) to ask for "a transitional government that prepares early elections that are free and in compliance with international standards". A group of demonstrators stormed the government building, attempting to break through the main entrance, but were then pushed back by the Republican Guard forces who fired tear gas from inside the building. Protesters protest against a government that they define as corrupt and inefficient. The invitation to keep the peaceful demonstration came from the European Union and the United States. Albania hopes that by the end of the year Brussels will decide to start full EU accession negotiations. According to the Albanian democratic party, 100 thousand protesters are protesting in the capital.

The opposition, formed by five center-left and center-left parties, accuses the premier of "collusion with organized crime" and of having "thrown the country into corruption and misery".
