Today, Pistoia has opened a new green city lung with an extension of nearly 3 hectares between Gonfiantini, Nazario Sauro, Brusigliano and the railway line in the heart of an important district.
The Bosco in the city was inaugurated and titled Lord Robert Baden-Powell and Olave St. Clair Soames Baden-Powell, scouts and leader of the world, couple of spouses who cultivated the same passion for scouting. The inauguration took place in the presence of mayor Alessandro Tomasi, and presidents of the Agesci and Cngei section of Pistoia respectively Claudio Curreli and Francesco Branchetti.
The event was attended by a large number of boys belonging to the two scouting associations.
The mayor in his speech said: “When I came here for the first time, a few months ago, I found a completely abandoned place. Seeing it like this today, full of people and restored to the dignity it deserves, is a double joy. I thank the men of the municipal construction sites who in recent weeks have given their best to give this place back to the scouts and all citizens, having in mind the importance of the work they were doing. Everyone's task now is to keep this park alive, to respect it and take care of it ”.
In addition to cleaning up the area, grass cutting, plant arrangement and extraordinary maintenance works were carried out in the area. The area was also furnished with benches and litter bins and chemical toilets were installed. Municipal employees have set up a bivouac area with a fire point delimited by stones and surrounded by seats that the scouts can use for their activities. The park was also equipped with lighting with the installation of two LED lights that will remain on all night.
The presidents Agesci and Cngei underlined: “In the regulation we have given ourselves, we have planned to be a reference for anyone who cares about the park. We have therefore organized a shift with a different group every month. Together with those who live in this neighborhood and also with anyone who cares about this park, we will define the methods of interaction for the reporting of maintenance and control interventions in the territory ”.
With the close cooperation agreement between City, Agesci and Cngei, the scout groups rotate will take care of the large green area. The boys from the two scouting associations will take care of keeping the park from papercards and other small rubbish clean as well as guarding it while doing their business. The Commune will take care of the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of green space.
